Really, dark, “mature” lips in combination with a light make-up are making us real Queens. But we are all real people, and on real people even the most expensive lipstick brands have a tendency to leak, get clogged in the micro-wrinkles round the lips and turn a tidy make-up lady in some unflattering likeness of Courtney Love in not in her best years.
Looking at photos of Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci models – the fashion world flagship who started to return the trend of dark lipstick, you will notice they clearly not having any problems with lipstick spreading. So, there are specific secrets to make your favorite color to stay on your lips. What about the professionals? Here is three key tips from Tina Turnbow the celeb makeup artist, in which she tells how to make your lipstick stay in the framework intended, whether you are 18 or 48.
Lip pencil is here to help
And not only as the first step in lip makeup. Many cosmetics artists, including Tina Turnbow, often use in practice only lip pencil, without subsequent application of a basic lipstick. “I like to outline lips with pencil and then to fill the entire area. You will not be able to really well describe the shape of your lips by using lipsticks because of its characteristics – it is much more liquid, and therefore necessarily focused on micro-cracks around your lips,” she explains. “The pencil more rigid, so that it is more likely than the lipstick will stay there where you apply.”
If you want a more soft look, Turnbow recommendation is to apply a little basic lipstick over the pencil right in the middle of your lips, dodging the edges. Well, if you still like the old-fashioned look of the lipstick, use the pencil as a base, and choose a lipstick with higher resistance. It’s typically more dry than the conventional counterparts and therefore less spread out. Alternatively, you can completely hop the step with a pencil and a light layer, apply lipstick with a gradient ranging from more saturated color in the middle to transparent border.
The magic is in the powder
If you want your lipstick lasted longer and by the end of the night not all flowed somewhere under the nose, then use the powder as the last step of the lips makeup. “You can slightly wet your lips with a napkin and a little to sprinkle on top of transparent friable powder,” – tells Turnbow. “You can also use normal powder and sponge, or, if you don’t want to ruin it, ordinary cotton swab to gently powder the boundaries of the lips”.
Don’t forget about care!
Besides the constant use of moisturizing lip balm and enough fluids drinking, don’t overlook to take care of the area round the lips! Now there are many masks designed to care specifically about this part of your face: a variety of masks, creams and gentle scrubs that help to remove dead skin of the lips without irritating and causing damage. “Moisturizers and a variety of essences you want to use and around the lips. I don’t think people usually pay enough care this area,” says Turnbow.
Here is such simple and at the same time useful tips from renowned make-up artist will help your lips to look perfect and seductive regardless of how saturated the color you choose to shine in its beauty.
