Avocado hair masks – Natural hair masks with avocado

Hard water, exposure to UV rays, hair dyes, heat from hairdryers and straighteners, poor nutrition and stress all make hair look dull and damaged.

Whenever cosmetic products containing chemical and synthetic components fail to deliver on their promises or even do actual harm, natural remedies come to the rescue by restoring hair structure, maintaining strength and simply taking care of our hair the way nature intended.

This is where avocado hair masks come in as a popular, and effective way to protect the hair and restore its natural beauty.

The benefits of Avocado hair masks

Avocado contains a number of essential phytochemicals, antioxidants, A, E, D and B6 vitamins, amino acids and minerals.

Avocado contains the following vitamins:
K – nourishes hair follicles and stimulates blood flow to them;
F – strengthens hair, makes it smooth, silky, protects against negative environmental factors;
E – enhances hair growth;
B6 – eliminates dryness, nourishes;
C – nourishes and stimulates the hair and hair follicles.

Minerals in the avocado:
Potassium – has a moisturizing effect, promotes growth, is actively involved in the building of hair structure;
Copper – prevents aging and hair loss;
Squalene – moisturizes, protects, improves the structure and prevents premature aging;
Lecithin – makes hair smooth, silky and docile.

Most importantly, avocados contain fatty acids (avocado has a high fat content — almost 30%), which provides our hair with nourishment and intense moisture.

  • Therefore, avocado promotes hair growth, prevents their loss.
  • Gives shine to dull hair.
  • Strengthens hair roots, restores damaged and lifeless hair.

How to choose avocado for hair masks?
Incorrectly selected products lack the wide range of useful substances, and therefore, won’t have the desired effect. So, don’t cut corners and take your time choosing ripe fruit.

If you feel firmness when pressing the skin of the fruit, then the fruit is not ripe. However, you can purchase and leave it in a dark place until it becomes ripe.

Overripe fruit can easily be determined by its softness, and wrinkled skin. Such a product is not at all beneficial for hair, since the beneficial substances inside have already begun to breakdown.

If you have noticed damage to the fruit or a abrasion in its skin, it is better to put it aside, since the oxidation process in it has begun, the result of which is a loss of the essential components. For this reason, try using the whole fruit every time.

Do not simply base your choice on the color of the fruit, as there are different varieties with green and dark skin.

How to make a homemade avocado hair mask

To achieve the maximum effect from the use of natural hair masks, it is imperative to correctly use masks depending on the type of hair and identify the problems you’re aiming to solve.

To make homemade masks, take a very ripe avocado fruit and place it in a blender. If the avocado is not ripe or you are too lazy to puree it into a creamy consistency, then you will have to pick out avocado chunks from the hair.
A homemade avocado mask can be applied to both dry and wet clean hair.

Rinse with plenty of water, you can add vinegar or lemon juice, if the mask was applied to the root area use an extra organic shampoo.

Applying remedies to the scalp with more active sebaceous glands is frowned upon. It is advised to stop the application 2-3 cm from the roots.

A strengthening and revitalizing hair mask with avocado will have the greatest effect when using a shower cap.
The frequency of using avocado masks depends largely on hair type. Once every 10-14 days is more than enough for oily hair, for normal – once a week, and dry – twice a week. Keep in mind that a sensible and systematic approach will lead to healthy and glowing hair.
